Purpose of the Role
Located in beautiful Newburyport Massachusetts, Boston Conveyor and Automation (BCA) has brought together a very experienced and successful team to focus on the automation processes in the food manufacturing, life science and general manufacturing industries. Due to rapid growth, BCA is in need of an experienced metal fabrication person.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Machining, CNC Lathe and Mill
- Metal Forming, Press Brake and Rolls
- Any skills and duties specific to the areas above will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
- CNC Machine Programming, Solidworks Cam
- Coordinate each Machine Center within the Automated Metal Prep Area to Maximize Efficiency and Minimize Waste
- Develop Machine Operation Standards to Optimize Machine Uptime and Minimize Tool Wear or Breakage. This would include documenting optimized machine specific parameters.
- Training of employees on CNC Machinery for department growth.
- Responsible for researching new tooling, techniques, fluids, methods of improvement.
- Maintaining Tooling, Fabrication Programs
Machine Maintenance
- Provide structured coordination support across multiple automation and capital equipment projects.
- Maintain accurate project schedules, documentation, and reporting/communication tools.
- Track financial data and support budget monitoring processes.
- Support change control and prevent undocumented scope deviation.
- Escalate risks, delays, or documentation gaps to the Project Manager.
- Ensure governance processes and project templates are consistently applied.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience
- High School degree or equivalent, OTJ training accepted
- Mechanical aptitude
- Measure and inspect finished products using standard measuring instruments like calipers and tape measures to ensure they meet dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to understand technical requirements and project specifications.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email)
- Driven self-starter with a positive attitude
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently or as a team
- Regular attendance and daily punctuality are necessary for performing the job
- Able to be on your feet, bend, or occasionally climb short ladder for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- Able to lift / move 50 lbs.
- Able to work minimum of 40 hours and work OT as needed
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Foresight to anticipate project requirements and organize tasks accordingly
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Adhere to all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized workspace
